DR THOMAS RUSSELL

General Practitioner, Paediatrics, Skin Procedures. Coffee and Crosswords!

Tom is an experienced GP who enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a particular interest in paediatrics and skin procedures.

Born and raised in the northern suburbs, Tom completed his medical degree in 2018 at the University of Melbourne and has worked across several major metropolitan hospitals in Melbourne. Before transitioning to GP, he completed a year of accredited paediatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital, consolidating his paediatric skills in the ENT and Respiratory units. Away from the clinic Tom works as a Medical educator and lecturer at the University of Melbourne, and as Neonatal Registrar in the Royal Women’s Hospital Neonatal ICU caring for sick and premature babies. Tom understands the inner drama that can come with a doctor’s visit for children (and often parents) and always tries to make it a fun and decidedly un-scary place - with plenty of lollipops!

Since becoming a GP, Tom has also completed further training in skin cancer surgery and psychotherapy, with a particular focus on the treatment of trauma and complex PTSD. He always works to provide a safe, warm environment with frank and earnest advice for his patients.

In his spare time, Tom can be found cultivating his moustache, dominating pub trivia, powerlifting, and nerding out over coffee, cryptic crosswords and all things theatre and Opera. When he's not chasing his new kittens Vesper and Gimlet!
